Alicia Silverstone, currently in rehearsals for the Broadway play Time Stands Still, is mourning her Clueless co-star Brittany Murphy, who died suddenly on December 20 at the age of 32.
"I'm so saddened to hear this news," Silverstone told People. "I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm and so sweet."
Silverstone and Murphy both won great acclaim for their work in the 1995 comedy Clueless, which largely revolved around Silverstone as popular high school Cher focusing her efforts on transforming unpopular transfer student Tai, played by Murphy. Both actresses also made their way to the Broadway stage after the success of the film, Silverstone in The Graduate in 2002 and Murphy in the acclaimed A View from the Bridge in 1997.
"I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. I feel love in my heart for her and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad."
Time Stands Still starts previews on January 5 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, with an opening night set for January 28.
